Saint Mariam Baouardy from I'billin in the Galilee

Last Friday (17.5) I participated in a wonderful event in the village of Ebalin in the Lower Valley, marking the proclamation by Pope John Paul II in 1983 of the Carmelite nun Mariam Baouardy, who was born in Ebalin in 1846, as a saint. In the village there's a spring dedicated to Miriam Boardi. This is the 9th year this event has been held.

The event was attended by Christians, Muslims and Jews, from the village and all over the Galilee, including groups of Christian scouts from all over the country, who marched.

The ceremony was organized by the church committee in Ebalin headed by the priest of the Catholic Church in the village, Father Lafi Khouri. The event ended in the Catholic Church with moving mass which was held in the presence of the head of the Greek Catholic community in the Galilee, Archbishop Yosef Mata, and with the participation of religious priests from the Catholic and Orthodox churches.

My recommendation: make sure next year you'll be there.
